Complete Guitar Wiring Errata

The shamefaced, sheepish part. I’m really sorry that some errors crept into Complete Guitar Wiring. I hate that this happened but, rather than pretend it didn’t, I need to make sure that readers are aware of these.

I will update both digital and physical versions to correct any errors. I can notify buyers of the digital version and provide an updated download but I’ve no way to do so for those who have purchased the physical version from Amazon. Therefore, I’ll detail errata here to serve as reference. Apologies for any hassle.

Ver. 1.04 (to be published)

    Updated page

Ver. 1.02 (June, 2022)

  • The Strat-style switches were mislabelled. The switch on the left has the neck and bridge wires reversed.

The switches on the right have incorrect numbering on the ‘A’ side. A1 and A3 should be reversed.

    Updated page

  • Labelling of neck and middle tone connections reversed incorrectly.
    Updated diagram

  • Jumper wires between switch lugs not shown.
    Updated diagram.

  • While the wiring is correct, the pot order assumed viewer was looking from the wrong side - order reversed. Corrected.
    Updated diagram.

  • On first push-pull diagram the ground wire was shown going to pot lug 2 instead of lug 1.
    Updated diagram.

  • Diagrams indicated the correct switch type (normally open or normally closed) but labels reversed these.
    Updated diagram.

  • Thousands multiplier value on diagram was shown incorrectly. Yellow band should have read "x10,000".

  • The ‘active’ dot on some diagram switch position indicators was incorrect. Selected switch position is obvious without indicator but has been corrected.

  • A number of typos were corrected. Of note:

(p.35) Should read: "Let's assume we select the neck pickup. In this position terminal A1 is connected to the common terminal at A0."

(p.379) Should read: “So the total resistance is 10 multiplied by 1,000,000 which ends up being 10,000,000Ω (or 10MΩ).
